OUTFIT: Neon Punch

neon yellow knit top - H&M
floral white trousers - H&M (Conscious Collection)
forest green leather watch - American Apparel
gold choker necklace - Forever 21
plaited belt - Primark

Oh, London has returned to its rainy, gloomy self today so I thought I'd inject a splash of colour on my blog with this outfit post. Wearing neon was at first a completely foreign territory to me. I found comfort in my usual neck of the woods: a neutral palette of monochrome, soft browns, forest greens and maroons. Walking around looking like a highlighter pen certainly wasn't one of the things on my list to tick off any time soon.

We all change though; some changes happen faster than others especially when it's the last top in stock...and it's in your size. Some would call it fate, I agree (as a way to justify my spending. Repeat after me: it's an investment in my happiness.)

I went through a 'vibrant' episode with wardrobe choices during March-May this year. The high street displays boasted an array of florals, jewel-toned pieces and neons. It didn't quite suit the grey skies that I'd wake up and fall asleep to each day so naturally, it made me hanker after a colourful wardrobe more. I'm also the person that suddenly misses Christmas in July.

The H&M Conscious collection also arrived at that time; it was a thing of beauty. Whilst interning at The Muse TV, I had my own 'video series' - the Shu Shop (puns were inevitable). To kick start it, we decided to find three things to pair with the trousers above. I spotted them in H&M a few days before and managed to convince Olwen that they were the right choice, they were the one. After umm-ing and ahh-ing for a while, I found this neon top and decided that if we were messing around with colour on the bottom half (oo-er), we may as well go all out. This outfit was then born!

It's one of my all-time favourite things to wear. It gets a few 'weird' stares when I'm prancing around London but I love it. It's fun, colourful and a welcome from my usual dull and drab preferences!

Have you changed your usual wardrobe choices recently?

If you're interested in watching The Shu Shop video that we filmed, I've embedded it below! :)

I'm so excited for my 21st birthday celebrations this weekend! I'll be sure to take as many pictures as possible to post it on here :)

Have a great rest of the day!

Top of the mornin' to you all: Happy Monday!

How was your weekend?

I had a very relaxed and chilled one with Jordan; it was amazing! We strolled down the Brighton North Laines, fed my falafel craving with a sweet potato wrap, finally watched Monsters University (definitely recommend it), made blueberry banana honey oatmeal muffins, ate homemade dark chocolate drizzled popcorn and ended it with the film Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. Bliss.

It's only 7 days until my 21st birthday too! This is the first ever year that I've been excited for my birthday as I normally hate the occasion. I feel like an excited little kid and it's great to finally have a smile on my face for something worth celebrating about!

Anywho, back to the outfit. This would be something I'd typically wear to work on days that I feel 'smart' but comfortable. The khaki trousers are a welcome alternative to skinny jeans and I reversed the classic colour palette with a black chiffon shirt instead. The soft textures of the pieces blend and work together well; the gold choker necklace also helps to break up the neutral with a 'bit 'o bling'.

The key to comfort is a well fitting pair of shoes so enter these sandals from Topshop. They're padded, leather, can withstand hours of walking and were only £24! Bargain. All that's left was to add on my pair of glasses and I'm good to go. Please note: these glasses actually help me see. They're not clear nor a fashion statement although they are pretty snazzy. I need another trip down to Specsavers soon though as things are getting a bit too blurry for my liking.

With that fun fact over, I'll end the post for today!
I hope the start of your week has started on a high so far!

Have a lovely rest of the day :)

Outfit: It's All White and Weekend Catch Up

scallop white vest - H&M
lace crochet shorts - TK Maxx

Happy Monday!

I'll try and keep it short and sweet today; I hope you all had a great weekend! I spent mine exploring London with my sisters, Jordan and mother and it was GRRRRRReeatt. Lots of great food, a quick detour around the British museum and a spontaneous purchase of an iPhone 5! I am in love. Sayonaro  cracked screen iPhone 4S and helllooooo 10GB of data to accompany my daily commutes.

I've bookmarked to return to the British Museum and to dedicate a whole day to it. I know it's not seen to be very 'cool' to have those interests but I'm a complete geek when it comes to the history shown in museums, cathedrals and other historical landmarks. It's the reason why I loved the architecture in Paris, Barcelona and Madrid so much. I could spend hours and hours just reading everything up and imagining the life that people had thousands of years ago. I find it to be so interesting! :) I actually took a few photos whilst we were out and about so I'll schedule a 'lifestyle' post if any of you are interested!

I also have lots of outfit posts lined up so look out for that :)

How did you spend your weekend?

I hope you're all having a great start to the week so far!

the best things in life are free

As an ode to the glorious weather of 31 degrees today, I thought I'd switch things up and blog a 'lifestyle' outfit post of those beautiful summer days that makes you truly appreciate the people and things around you. Enough cheese? Right, I'll carry on.

It was Jordan's dad's birthday a few weekends ago and as it was during the height of summer, the celebrations were taken outside to the family garden. Now, I'm not kidding when I say that it's a tropical paradise. There's a ping pong table, outdoor lounging sofas, brightly coloured bean bags and a hot tub with various fairy lights and lanterns hung up around you - it's easy to lose track of time in this wondrous land.

All of the family members came round and we passed the hours away with sangria, nibbles, cheesecake and dainty snacks. His dad decided to make an epic triple sausage hot dog... a definite contender for Man V Food.

We relaxed and let the stress float away in a little bubble under the blue skies, I learnt a few tai-chi moves from Jordan's grandfather, challenged my sisters to a game of table tennis and we all ended it with a game of piggy in the middle as the sun was setting.

I'm smiling at the thought of it! :)

Whilst it's great to fill up your calender with a list of things to do during the weekends, sometimes, the best days are the ones that are simple and without fuss. As they say, the best things in life are free and on this particular occasion, I have to agree.

What have you done recently that has made you smile?!
I'd love to know!

I hope you're having a great day so far! :)
